Apfel-Cronuts

Ingredients
- 600 g croissant dough (refrigerated)
- plant oil (for frying)
- 120 g apple sauce
- 1 tbsp cider
- 50 g powdered sugar
- 1 splash apple juice

Arrange the dough strips on top of each other and roll into a large rectangle. Brush with cold water and fold the side thirds over each other. Smooth and press firmly. Cover with foil and chill for about 30 minutes. Then cut six circles (diameter ~8-10 cm) from the dough. Cut a small hole (~2 cm) in the center of each circle. Fry portions in hot oil (≈170 °C) for about 3 minutes on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain well.

Cut the cooled donuts horizontally in half. Mix apple sauce with cider and spread about half onto the lower donut halves. Place the tops back on and brush the remaining sauce over them. Whisk powdered sugar with apple juice to make a glaze. Glaze the donuts, let dry, then serve.
