Ingredients

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 cube yeast
  • 280 ml lukewarm milk
  • 100 g sugar
  • 50 g soft butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • raisins
  • 1 painted egg
  • toothpicks

Instructions

  1. 1.

Stir the yeast into the milk until smooth and add all other ingredients to a mixing bowl. Knead thoroughly with the beaters of a hand mixer. Let rise in a warm place (e.g., oven slightly open at 40‑50°C) for 30 minutes.

  2. 2.

On a floured surface knead the dough again and divide it into eight pieces. Set aside two pieces. Divide each of the remaining six pieces again, shape them into balls, flatten six of those, cut halfway with a knife, form two ears and a bunny head. Place the other six body balls as heads. Arrange on a parchment‑lined baking tray. Whisk egg yolk with milk and brush the bunnies. Insert raisins for eyes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C fan for about 12–15 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 3.

For the large bunny, knead the two dough parts together and shape a body, head, ears and feet, flatten slightly and assemble. Press raisins into the dough as eyes, form a small ball from the remaining dough and place it as a nose on the body. Line a baking tray with parchment. Press the colored egg into the body and stick small toothpicks as a mustache. Bake the large bunny at 180°C for about 15–18 minutes.
