Vanilla crescents without egg
In the traditional version, vanilla crescents without egg are made. The recipe can be found at Spoonsparrow!
Ingredients
- 2 Vanilla Beans
- 280 g flour
- 100 g peeled almonds (ground)
- 75 g sugar
- 200 g cold butter
- flour (for working)
- 60 g powdered sugar (for dusting)

Split the vanilla beans lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Quickly knead the flour with the almonds, sugar, butter in chunks, and vanilla seeds on a work surface into a smooth dough. Divide the dough into 4 portions and roll each into cylinders about 2-3 cm in diameter on floured surface. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours.

Preheat the oven to 160°C fan. Line baking trays with parchment paper.

Cut each cylinder into slices about 1 cm thick. Shape the slices into crescents (small horns) and place on prepared trays. Bake in the oven for about 12 minutes. Remove from tray while still warm and dust with powdered sugar. Let vanilla crescents cool.
