Ingredients

  • 500 g green tomatoes
  • 500 g apples
  • 1 onion
  • 15 g ginger
  • 1 Green Chili Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Rapeseed oil
  • 150 g sugar
  • 100 ml white balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • a pinch of ground allspice
  • 2 tsp Curry powder

Instructions

  1. 1.

Rinse the tomatoes with boiling water, shock them in cold water, peel off the skins, cut out the stem ends and quarter them. Remove the seeds and dice the flesh into small cubes. Peel, quarter, core, and dice the apples similarly. Peel the onion and ginger; finely dice both. Rinse the chili pepper, slice it lengthwise, remove the seeds, and dice it as well. Heat the oil and sauté the onion, ginger, and chili cubes until fragrant. Add the apples and tomatoes and cook briefly. Stir in the sugar, vinegar, salt, and spices, then simmer gently for about 10 minutes.

  2. 2.

Fill sterilized screw-top jars with the chutney while still hot, leave them upside down for about 10 minutes, then turn them right side up and allow to cool.
