Ingredients

  • 4 T‑Bone steaks (about 400 g each)
  • 2 tbsp plant oil
  • Sea salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 4 onions
  • 150 g baby bell peppers (e.g., green and yellow)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Take the steaks out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before grilling so that the meat cooks evenly and the temperature difference is not too great. Rinse, pat dry, and lightly brush with oil. Season with salt and pepper and place on the grill. Cooking time varies depending on meat quality and thickness. Grill each side for 2‑3 minutes until browned. After another 2‑3 minutes the steak will be about rare.

  2. 2.

Use a light finger pressure on the center of the meat slice to compare resistance with the handball; rare feels like when thumb and index finger are together.

  3. 3.

After an additional 1‑2 minutes per side the meat is medium‑rare. The resistance is greater, similar to thumb and middle finger together. Medium is achieved after another 1‑2 minutes, compared to thumb and ring finger.

  4. 4.

With firm resistance (thumb and pinky together) the steak is well‑done after another 1‑2 minutes. Remove finished steaks from the grill and let them rest wrapped in foil for a few minutes before serving.

  5. 5.

Peel the onions and cut into rings. Wash and pat dry the peppers. Combine onions and peppers in a grilling tray and drizzle with 1 Tbsp oil. Season with salt and pepper and grill for about 8 minutes until browned.

  6. 6.

Sprinkle the meat with coarse sea salt and serve with the grilled onions.
