Ingredients

  • 125 g soft butter
  • 2 packets vanilla sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp double cream
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 200 g Flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions

    Cream together the butter, vanilla sugar, egg, double cream and cinnamon; fold in the flour and a pinch of salt to form a smooth dough. Shape into a log, wrap in foil and chill for 1 hour.

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) with both top and bottom heat.

    Cut thin slices from the log, shape them into about 18 cm long slender rolls, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet in pretzel shape. Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle with hazelnuts and sugar, then bake in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes until golden brown. Remove, cool, and serve.
