Sweet Millet in Oriental Style

Sweet millet in an oriental style with cranberries and almonds from Spoonsparrow: the dried fruits provide fiber, minerals, and B vitamins.

Ingredients

  • 100 g Millet
  • 250 ml milk (1.5% fat)
  • a pinch of salt
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla powder
  • 0.25 tsp cardamom powder
  • 30 g dried figs (2 figs)
  • 30 g dried cranberries (2 Tbsp)
  • 3 tbsp almond sticks
  • 2 tsp coconut palm sugar
  • 1 pinch cinnamon

Instructions

    Rinse the millet in a sieve with hot water until the runoff is clear, then drain well.

    Bring the milk to a boil with a pinch of salt, vanilla, and cardamom; add the millet and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Dice the figs. Add the figs and cranberries to the millet and continue cooking covered for another 5 minutes.

    Meanwhile, toast the almond sticks in a dry pan until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and let cool slightly.

    Mix the coconut palm sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the millet with the almonds, serve, and enjoy.
