Ingredients

  • 700 g flour
  • 1 cube yeast (42 g)
  • 200 ml lukewarm milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 350 g breakfast bacon (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp caraway seeds

Instructions

    Sift the flour into a bowl and press a well in the center. Crumble the yeast into it, then stir in the milk, salt, and sugar. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

    Knead the dough on a floured surface again, divide into 12 pieces, and shape each into about 30 cm long strands. Wrap the sticks with bacon and coil the dough (sprinkled with some caraway seeds) around them in a spiral fashion.

    Bake the sticks in a charcoal grill or over a campfire until golden brown all around, turning them frequently.
