Spiced Cookies

The spiced cookies from Spoonsparrow come without refined sugar and taste wonderfully like Christmas!

Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 250 g Whole wheat spelt flour
  • 125 g cold butter
  • 70 g date syrup
  • 2 tsp ginger powder
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch allspice
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch baking powder

Instructions

    Separate the eggs (use the whites elsewhere). In a bowl, mix the flour with butter, syrup, yolks, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, salt and baking powder until a smooth dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

    Take small portions of dough, shape into balls, flatten slightly and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 180 °C (fan 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for 10–15 minutes. Remove cookies from tray and let cool.
