Simple Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
- 200 g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa content)
- 200 g softened butter
- 150 g unsweetened applesauce
- 8 eggs
- 150 g Whole wheat flour
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 50 g finely ground almonds
- 100 g raw cane sugar

Chop the chocolate and melt it over a water bath. Whisk the butter with the applesauce until frothy. Separate the eggs. Gradually fold the egg yolks and melted chocolate into the butter mixture.

Mix the flour, baking powder, and almonds together and fold in. Beat the egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter.

Pour the batter into a greased pan if necessary and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan; gas: level 2–3) for about 1 hour. Remove, let cool, and release from the pan.
