Silken Tofu with Bonito Flakes

Silken tofu marinated in soy sauce and served with bonito flakes, sesame seeds, ginger, shiso, basil, mint, and a sweet-savory glaze. The tofu is made from soybeans and delivers their beneficial nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 300 g silken tofu
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 5 g ginger (1 piece)
  • 1 box shiso
  • 1 stalk basil
  • 1 stalk mint
  • 50 ml Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 100 g crumbly cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp bonito flakes

Instructions

    Drain the tofu, place it on a flat plate, cover and refrigerate.

    Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until golden brown.

    Peel and grate ginger finely. Cut shiso leaves from the plant with kitchen scissors. Wash basil and mint, pat dry, pluck leaves and slice into thin strips.

    Heat soy sauce, sugar, and rice vinegar in a small pot while stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool slightly, then stir in the grated ginger.

    Spread crumbly cream cheese over the tofu. Sprinkle shiso, basil, and mint on top. Add bonito flakes and toasted sesame seeds, drizzle with the warm glaze, and serve immediately.
