Ingredients

  • 250 g starchy potatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 800 g ground lamb
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp tomato paste
  • Salt
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 75 ml hot milk
  • nutmeg
  • 50 g grated cheddar cheese
  • butter (for greasing)

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C fan. Grease the baking dish.

    Peel, wash and boil the potatoes in salted water for about 25 minutes. Peel and finely dice the onions. Brown the ground lamb and onions in hot oil. Add the tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper. Drain the potatoes, let them dry, then mash them. Stir in the hot milk and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

    Fill the baking dish with the meat mixture, spread the mashed potatoes on top, and sprinkle with cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
