Semolina Dumplings with Strawberry Compote

The semolina dumplings with strawberry compote from Spoonsparrow are always a good idea as a strawberry dessert!

Ingredients

  • 500 ml milk (1.5 % fat)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 50 g butter
  • 30 g whole grain sugar
  • 120 g wheat whole grain semolina
  • 2 Eggs
  • 500 g strawberries
  • 1 Orange (juice)
  • 0.5 tsp cornstarch
  • 80 g ground hazelnuts

Instructions

    For the semolina dumplings, bring milk with a pinch of salt, butter and sugar to a boil. Add semolina and stir over low heat for about 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes. Then whisk in eggs and allow to cool.

    Meanwhile, clean, wash and dice strawberries for the compote. In a pot, combine half of the strawberries with orange juice and cornstarch. Stir over low heat until it boils and slightly thickens. Puree finely, remove from heat and fold in the remaining strawberries.
