Savory Swiss Chard Tart
A hearty swiss chard tart is the perfect after-work recipe – quick to make, healthy and made with fresh ingredients.
Ingredients
- 200 g Flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 100 g butter
- 1 egg
- 400 g young swiss chard
- 1 stalk leek
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 400 g cream cheese
- 3 eggs
- 250 ml whipping cream (at least 30% fat)
- 100 g freshly grated Parmesan
- pepper (ground)
- nutmeg
- butter (for the pan)
Instructions
-
1.
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan. Sift flour onto a work surface, mix in salt and make a well in the center. Cut cold butter into small pieces, spread around the well, add the egg, pour in 2–3 tbsp lukewarm water and use a knife to cut through all ingredients until small dough crumbs form. Quickly knead with hands into a dough, shape into a ball, wrap in cling film and chill for about 30 minutes.

2.
Wash, trim and roughly chop the swiss chard. Wash, trim and dice the leek. Peel garlic cloves and finely mince. Whisk cream cheese with eggs, cream and half of the parmesan until smooth. Fold in the chard, garlic and leek and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Roll out the dough between two sheets of cling film and line a buttered pan with it, lifting up a rim.

3.
Spread the filling over the dough and level it. Sprinkle with remaining parmesan and bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Remove, let cool briefly, lift carefully from the pan and cut into pieces to serve.
