Rice Skillet with Brown Lentils and Onions

Ingredients

  • 400 g basmati rice
  • 200 g brown lentils
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp grape seed oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • light soy sauce
  • ground allspice
  • a pinch curry powder
  • Cayenne pepper

Instructions

    Cook the rice according to package instructions, rinse with cold water and drain.

    Cook the lentils as directed on the package. Rinse and drain them as well.

    Peel the onions and slice them into rings.

    Add butter and oil to a pan that isn’t too hot, then slowly caramelize the onions with occasional stirring until golden brown. Stir in allspice and curry, then add rice and lentils. Fry together for about 3–4 minutes, then season with soy sauce and cayenne pepper before serving.
