Red Wine Cherries

Ingredients

  • 1 kg sour cherry
  • 500 ml sweet red wine
  • 100 g whole cane sugar
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 4 tbsp amaretto

Instructions

    Rinse the cherries, remove stems and place them in clean canning jars. Pour the red wine with sugar and cinnamon sticks into a pot and heat. Cook over high heat for about 3 minutes until the sugar has fully dissolved. Stir in the amaretto.

    While still hot, pour the red wine over the cherries. Then seal the jars tightly. Place them on a deep baking sheet or the juice pan of your oven and fill it with boiling water. Sterilize the jars with red wine cherries in a preheated oven at 80 °C (convection: 60 °C, gas: level 1) for 25 minutes.

    Let the red wine cherries cool. Store them in a cool, dark place.
