Quick Nasi Goreng
Fast Nasi Goreng from Spoonsparrow: The Indonesian rice stir‑fry is ready in a flash!
Ingredients
- 250 g long grain rice
- 2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt
- 500 g chicken breast fillet
- 150 g Frozen Peas
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 onion
- 1 Garlic clove
- 1 piece ginger (10 g)
- 3 tbsp oil
- 150 g shrimp (pre‑cooked, ready to use)
- black pepper (freshly ground)
Instructions

Wash the rice. Boil it with turmeric in 2.5 times the amount of salted water. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 25 minutes until cooked.

Meanwhile slice the chicken into strips. Thaw the peas. Clean, wash, halve, seed, remove white membranes from the bell pepper and cut into small diamonds. Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Peel and grate the ginger.

Heat oil in a wok or deep pan and quickly sear the chicken. Add onion, garlic and ginger and stir‑fry vigorously for about 2 minutes. Add the bell pepper and peas and continue cooking for another 7 minutes.

Add the rice and shrimp, mix well and fry for one more minute. Season the quick Nasi Goreng with salt and pepper, taste and serve immediately.
