Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1.2 kg waxy potatoes
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • nutmeg
  • 2 Eggs
  • 600 ml Milk
  • 50 g crème double
  • 75 g grated Gruyère cheese
  • butter (for the dish)

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C fan.

    Peel the garlic clove. Rub a baking dish with the garlic and then brush it with butter. Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes very thin or use a mandoline. Layer the potato slices in the dish. Whisk together the eggs, milk, and crème double; season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour over the potatoes so they are just covered. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
