Ingredients
- 1 kg waxy potatoes
- 2 onions
- 150 g shredded Emmental cheese
- 50 g butter
- 0.25 l milk
- 120 g whipping cream
- Salt
- Pepper
- Grated nutmeg
Instructions

Peel, wash, and slice the potatoes.

Peel and finely chop the onions. In a fireproof dish melt 2 tbsp butter and sauté the onions.

Layer half of the potato slices in a brick-like pattern, season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then sprinkle half of the cheese on top.

Add the remaining potato slices, season again, and sprinkle with the rest of the cheese. Top with butter shards.

Whisk milk and cream together, pour gently over the potatoes, and bake in an oven at 160°C for 1 hour until golden yellow.
