Plum Chutney

Ideal as a fruity dip for bread or grilled foods: try the plum chutney from Spoonsparrow!
Ingredients
- 600 g plums
- 3 cm fresh ginger
- 400 g onions
- 3 tbsp oil
- 200 g raw sugar
- Salt
- Cayenne pepper
- 250 ml red wine vinegar
- White bread
- 1 slice Emmental cheese

Prepare the ingredients: wash the plums, halve them, remove pits, and dice finely. Peel the ginger. Dice the onions and ginger into small cubes.

Cook the chutney: sauté both in hot oil until translucent. Add the plums and cook briefly with them. Stir in brown sugar and let it melt while stirring. Season to taste. Pour in vinegar and simmer for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finish: adjust seasoning again. Transfer the chutney into prepared jars and seal tightly. Let cool upside down.

Serve: break the white bread and cheese into pieces, place a bit of cheese on each bread slice, and serve with the chutney as a snack.
