Ingredients

  • 500 g canned tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • a pinch sugar
  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Spring onion
  • oil
  • 100 g veal mince
  • 30 g Butter
  • 30 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. 1.

Peel and chop the onion and garlic. Heat oil in a pot. Sauté garlic and onions until translucent. Dice tomatoes and add with tomato paste. Season with sugar, salt, and pepper; simmer gently for 30 minutes.

  2. 2.

For the meatballs, beat softened butter, then alternately add breadcrumbs, egg, and veal mince, season, and shape into small balls.

  3. 3.

Place in plenty of boiling salted water and let sit for 10 minutes; the water should no longer boil. Remove with a slotted spoon, drain, and keep warm.

  4. 4.

Wash, peel, and first shave carrot into fine slices with a vegetable peeler, then cut into thin long strips.

  5. 5.

Wash, trim, halve spring onions crosswise, and cut into long thin strips as well.

  6. 6.

Cook spaghetti in plenty of salted water with a little oil until al dente; after 4 minutes add the vegetable strips and cook together. Drain and set aside.

  7. 7.

Plate spaghetti with tomato sauce and meatballs, garnish with fresh basil.
