Ingredients
- 200 g sugar
- 50 g butter
- 3 untreated oranges
- 300 g flour
- 180 g butter
- 0.5 sachet baking powder
- 150 g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1 packet poppy seed mix
- 1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
-
1.
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan.
-
2.
Heat 100 ml water and sugar in a pot until it turns brown caramel, remove from heat immediately, stir in butter and pour into the baking tin, also coating the rim. Slice oranges very thinly, press them onto the rim and arrange them fan‑shaped on the base. In a bowl combine flour, butter, baking powder, sugar, eggs, milk, poppy seed mix and orange zest; whisk until smooth. If the batter is too thick add a little more milk. Pour over the oranges in the springform, level the surface and bake for about 50‑60 minutes (test with a skewer). Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then turn onto a cake plate to finish cooling.
