Orange Cookies with Nougat

Ingredients
- 40 g orange zest
- 1 tsp orange peel
- 175 g softened butter
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 300 g flour
- a pinch of salt
- 100 g ground blanched almonds
- 100 g nougat chocolate
- 1 tbsp plant oil
- candied orange slice (for garnish)
- 100 g orange jam
- 20 ml orange liqueur
Instructions

Chop the orange zest into small pieces and mix with the orange peel. Beat the butter, powdered sugar, and egg until fluffy. Add the orange mixture, flour, salt, and almonds, then knead everything into a smooth dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) fan‑forced.

Dust the work surface with flour and roll out the dough to 2–3 mm thickness. Cut oval or leaf‑shaped cookies, 3–4 cm long, using a cookie cutter. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden yellow.

Break the nougat chocolate into small pieces and melt in a double boiler while stirring. Mix the orange jam with the orange liqueur. Brush two cookies each side with this mixture and assemble them together. Then dip half of the assembled cookie into the melted nougat chocolate. Decorate with candied orange slices.

Let the cookies dry on a cooling rack for about 2 hours.
