Spoonsparrow onion raita is a great Indian recipe for your next buffet!
Ingredients
- 300 g vegetable onions
- 1 small cucumber (about 250 g)
- Salt
- 1 small tomato (50 g)
- 0.25 bunch Parsley
- 0.25 bunch chives
- 600 g Yogurt (3.5% fat)
- 2 tbsp Raw cane sugar
- 1 lemon (juice)
- Pepper
- 0.5 tsp ground cumin
- 0.5 tsp ground turmeric
Instructions

Peel onions and cucumber. Cut cucumber lengthwise, remove seeds with a spoon. Dice onions and cucumber into 1 cm pieces. Mix in a bowl, salt generously. Let sit for an hour.

Meanwhile wash the tomato, peel it, and slice into thin strips. Wash herbs, shake dry, and finely chop.

Whisk yogurt with sugar and lemon juice in a bowl. Fold in onion‑cucumber mixture and season with pepper. Sprinkle lightly with cumin and turmeric, then garnish with tomato slices and herbs.
