Ingredients
- 3 onions
- 1 Garlic clove
- 150 g Chester cheese
- 4 tbsp butter
- 0.25 l beer
- 0.5 l meat broth (from the can)
- 1 slice toast bread
- Salt
- Pepper
- Worcestershire sauce
Instructions

Peel the onions and garlic, cut the onions into thin rings. Grate the cheese coarsely. Heat 3 tbsp butter and sauté the onions until translucent.

Add all but 2 tbsp of the cheese, stirring to melt. Squeeze in the garlic and pour in beer and meat broth. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Dice the toast bread and roast it in the remaining butter until golden.

Fill four oven‑proof soup cups with the soup, top with toasted bread cubes and the remaining cheese, then bake at 200°C for 10 minutes to gratinate.
