Ingredients

  • 250 g butter
  • 150 g raw cane sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 Organic Orange
  • 100 g ground hazelnuts
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch cloves powder
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom
  • 60 g dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 500 g spelt flour type 1050
  • 75 ml milk (as needed)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar from raw cane sugar

Instructions

  1. 1.

Beat the butter with the sugar until fluffy. Gradually fold in the eggs until a creamy mixture forms. Wash, dry‑rub and zest the orange; squeeze out the juice. Add the orange zest and juice to the batter. Mix in the hazelnuts, baking powder, spices, chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, and flour. If needed, add milk to achieve a firm yet spreadable dough. Spread the batter onto a parchment‑lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan) for about 30 minutes, checking with a skewer.

  2. 2.

Remove from the oven and let cool.

  3. 3.

Cut or cut out star shapes of various sizes (about 22–6 cm). Arrange the stars decreasing in size on top of each other. Dust with powdered sugar and place the smallest star on top.
