Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 500 ml milk (3.5% fat)
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for the pan)
- 250 g ciabatta (from yesterday)
- 300 g cherry tomatoes
- 200 g sheep cheese
- 1 handful basil (for garnish)
Instructions
-
1.
Whisk the eggs well and pour into a bowl with the milk. Mix in salt, pepper, and oregano. Peel the garlic cloves and squeeze them into the mixture. Grease a baking dish.
-
2.
Slice the bread and arrange it like roof tiles in the dish. Pour the egg‑milk mixture over the bread and let it soak for about 30 minutes.
-
3.
Wash the tomatoes and halve them. Insert between the bread slices. Sprinkle with crumbled cheese, salt, and pepper. Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the casserole for about 30 minutes; if the surface darkens too quickly, cover it promptly.
-
4.
Remove the casserole from the oven and serve garnished with basil leaves.
