Ingredients

  • 0.5 rolls (from yesterday)
  • 250 g minced meat (mixed)
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 small onion
  • 1 Tbsp parsley
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 0.5 tsp marjoram
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 40 g hard cheese in small cubes (~0.5 cm)
  • breadcrumbs (for breading)
  • frying oil (for frying)
  • ketchup
  • cress
  • mayonnaise
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. 1.

Soak the rolls in warm water and squeeze out excess liquid. Knead the minced meat with the egg and rolls together. Peel and finely chop the onion, wash, dry, and finely chop the parsley. Sauté the onions in oil until translucent, then add to the meat mixture along with the spices and herbs. From the mixture form 4-6 balls about 1.5-2 cm in diameter, then make 4-6 smaller balls for each larger ball. Flatten all but the smallest balls by hand and fill each with a cheese cube, then coat in breadcrumbs. Heat frying oil to about 175°C and fry the balls in batches, draining on kitchen paper.

  2. 2.

Arrange six differently sized balls on 4-6 plates in order like a caterpillar. With ketchup, mayonnaise, and pepper create a face on each largest ball, and add small bumps of cress and ketchup to each ball. Serve with salad as the caterpillar’s food.
