Ingredients

  • 200 g red lentils
  • 20 g Ginger
  • 1 bunch coriander (≈20 g)
  • 500 ml vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp ghee (≈15 g)
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt
  • 5 tbsp yogurt (3.5% fat) (≈20 g)

Instructions

    Place lentils in a sieve and rinse thoroughly under cold water.

    Peel ginger and finely chop. Wash coriander, shake dry, and chop leaves.

    Bring lentils with ginger, vegetable broth, and turmeric to a boil in a pot and simmer for about 10 minutes until tender. Fold in chopped coriander.

    Meanwhile heat ghee in a small pan. Sauté ground coriander, cumin, and chili powder over medium heat briefly while stirring. Stir the mixture into the lentils. Season Masoor Dal with salt, serve in bowls topped with yogurt. Pair with papadam.
