Ingredients
- 4 old rolls (or 4 roll buns)
- 250 ml milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 0.5 lemon (unprocessed)
- 40 g sugar
- 3 eggs
- 500 g fresh cherries (or 1 jar)
- 30 g butter (in flakes)
- butter (for the pan)
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking dish.

Slice or crumble the rolls into a bowl. Whisk together milk, salt, grated lemon zest, sugar, and eggs. Pour about two-thirds of the mixture over the rolls and let it soak.

Clean and pit the cherries, then drain them.

Layer the roll mixture alternately with cherries in the pan; top with a final layer of rolls. Or mix the roll batter with cherries and pour into the pan. Pour the remaining egg milk over it, sprinkle with butter flakes, and bake for 30-45 minutes until golden brown.
