Ingredients
- 0.5 tsp saffron strands
- 0.5 cup boiling water
- 1.5 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 200 g Flour
- 200 ml plain yogurt
- oil (for frying)
- 0.5 l water
- 500 g sugar
- 3 Cloves
- 3 cm cinnamon stick
- 3 cardamom pods
- a few drops rosewater
Instructions

Pour saffron over the boiling water and let cool to body temperature.

Dissolve the yeast with the sugar in the saffron water, then beat into a thick dough with flour and yogurt. Let the dough rise covered in a warm place for about 1 hour.

Meanwhile, cook water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom into a thick syrup; let cool, then add a few drops of rosewater.

Fill a piping bag fitted with a smooth, tight nozzle with the dough, pipe spirals into hot oil, and fry until golden brown on all sides.

Lift the pastries from the oil, drain on kitchen paper, dip in the syrup, and serve immediately.
