Hungarian Potatoes Goulash

A hearty Hungarian goulash with potatoes, fresh ingredients and rich flavors from Spoonsparrow.

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp oil
  • 1 kg onions
  • paprika powder
  • 1 l water
  • 1 kg mixed goulash meat
  • 2-3 bell peppers
  • 500 g carrots
  • Pepper
  • iodized salt
  • garlic
  • bay leaf
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • 500 g Potatoes

Instructions

    Add oil to a large pot. Peel, dice onions and sauté in the pot until translucent, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in plenty of paprika powder.

    Add water, then mixed goulash meat, and simmer for 1 hour. Dice bell peppers and carrots, add them, and continue simmering for another 30 minutes.

    Season with pepper, iodized salt, garlic, bay leaf. Stir in tomato paste. Peel, dice potatoes, add to the pot, and simmer for an additional 30 minutes until the potatoes break down. The goulash is ready when the potatoes are tender.
