  • 200 g spelt whole wheat flour
  • 1 egg

  • 50 g raw cane sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 4 apples
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp Whole wheat breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. 1.

Knead the flour with the egg, 100 g of butter, sugar and salt into a smooth dough. If necessary add a little water or more flour. Quickly knead into a smooth shortcrust pastry. Wrap in cling film and chill for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2.

If needed brush the tart pan with butter and dust it lightly with flour. Wash the apples, quarter them, remove the core and cut into large cubes. Toss with lemon juice and cinnamon.

  3. 3.

Melt the remaining butter in a saucepan. Stir in the honey and breadcrumbs. Roll out the dough and line the tart pan with it. Spread the apple mixture over the dough and sprinkle the buttery breadcrumb topping on top.

  4. 4.

Bake the healthy apple pie in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan‑forced 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for about 40 minutes. Remove and let cool.
