Ham Roast

Ingredients

  • 1 kg ham roll roast (prepared by butcher)
  • Salt
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp cloves
  • 1 untreated orange
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 100 g smoked ham

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) with both fan and conventional heat. Wash the roast, pat dry, season with salt and pepper, then sear all sides in hot oil in a roasting tin. Remove, skewer with cloves, deglaze the pan with a splash of water, and return the meat.

    Bake in the oven for about 1.5 hours, turning occasionally and adding water as needed. Slice the ham into strips. Zest the orange and juice it; mix both with honey. Brush this glaze over the roast during the last 30 minutes.

    Stop rotating the roast and sprinkle with the ham strips, drizzling with glaze intermittently. Remove from oven and serve sliced on a platter.
