Ingredients

  • 1 small white cabbage (ca. 1 kg)
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • butter (for greasing the dish)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 2 onions
  • 150 g cooked ham (sliced)
  • 3 eggs
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

    Clean the cabbage, quarter it, wash it, remove the core and cut into fine strips.

    Peel the garlic and grate finely with a pinch of salt.

    Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) fan‑fry. Grease a baking dish with butter.

    Sauté the cabbage strips with the garlic in hot oil briefly. Season lightly with salt and pepper, add a splash of water, steam for about 5 minutes, then transfer to the baking dish.

    Peel the onions and cut into rings. Cut the ham into pieces. Distribute both over the cabbage.

    Whisk together the eggs, cheese, and cream for the sauce. Season with salt and pepper, pour over the vegetables, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, and dot with butter chunks. Bake in the oven for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
