Ingredients

  • 2 onions
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 800 g mixed ground beef
  • 1 roll (stale)
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • 6 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 Eggs
  • Salt
  • ground pepper
  • 150 g Gouda cheese (chunky)
  • 24 half almond kernels
  • ketchup
  • mustard
  • baking paper

Instructions

    Soak the roll in lukewarm water. Peel and finely chop the onions and garlic, then sauté them in hot olive oil until translucent; set aside to cool slightly. Drain the roll well, mix it with ground beef, tomato paste, breadcrumbs, the onion mixture, and eggs. Season with salt and pepper and knead everything thoroughly.

    Cut the cheese into 24 long pieces. Shape the meat mixture into 'fingers', wrapping each cheese piece with ground beef.

    Press a half almond into the center of each meat finger to act as a fingernail. Place the meat fingers on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (medium) for about 20–30 minutes.

    Serve with mustard and ketchup.
