Ingredients

  • 1 old-fashioned roll
  • 4 ripe tomatoes
  • 125 ml lukewarm milk
  • 2 vegetable onions
  • 1 ball mozzarella (125 g)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 600 g mixed minced meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Mustard

Instructions

    Soak the roll in the milk. Wash the tomatoes, remove the stem ends and slice them into 0.5 cm thick rounds. Peel the onions and slice them as well. Drain the mozzarella and cut it into slices. Stack three tomato slices with onion and mozzarella to form a tower and finish with a mozzarella slice.

    Place each tower on a piece of foil, season with salt and pepper, sprinkle oregano flakes, drizzle with olive oil, and seal tightly. Mix the minced meat with the squeezed-out roll crumbs, egg, and mustard, seasoning with salt and pepper.

    With damp hands, cut 70 g portions from the meat mixture and shape them into long rolls (2 cm diameter). Place the meat rolls with the tomato packets on a hot grill and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally. Open the packets and serve with the meat rolls.
