  • 2 slices of toast bread
  • 1 onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • olive oil
  • 400 g ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp sharp mustard
  • Salt
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 1 old-fashioned roll
  • 1 tomato
  • 80 g feta cheese
  • 400 g ground lamb
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped oregano
  • 1 tsp sharp mustard
  • black pepper (freshly ground)

Instructions

    Preheat the grill.

    Soak the toast bread in lukewarm water for the Cevapcici. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic, then sauté them in a hot pan with 1 tbsp oil until translucent.

    Combine the ground beef with half of the onion mixture, mustard, squeezed-out bread, egg, parsley, and mustard; knead well, season with salt and cayenne pepper, and shape into small rolls.

    For the steaks soak the roll in lukewarm water. Blanch the tomato, cool it, peel, quarter, seed, and dice into small cubes.

    Dice the feta cheese finely. Mix the ground lamb with egg, squeezed-out roll, oregano, mustard, tomatoes, feta, and the remaining onion mixture; season with salt and pepper. Shape into 4 steaks and place them with the Cevapcici on the hot grill. Grill for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally. Serve with tomato salsa or olive-garlic quark if desired.
