Ground Beef Leek Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 leek stalk
  • 600 g firm potatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • salt, pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 250 g mixed ground beef
  • 2 tsp marjoram leaves
  • 125 ml milk
  • 2 Eggs (size M)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 80 g medium Gouda cheese
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs

Instructions

    Clean the leek, cut into rings and rinse thoroughly. Drain. Peel and dice the potatoes. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan. Fry the potatoes for about 5 minutes, adding the leeks in the last minute. Season with salt and pepper.

    Peel and dice the onion and garlic. Heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet. Sauté the onion and garlic until golden yellow. Add the ground beef and cook briefly. Season with marjoram, salt, and pepper.

    Whisk together milk and eggs, seasoning with salt and pepper. Grease a baking dish with a little butter. Layer the potatoes, leeks, and beef. Pour the egg-milk mixture over them. Grate the Gouda cheese and sprinkle it along with breadcrumbs on top. Dot with small pieces of butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (or 170°C fan) for about 35 minutes.
