Grilled Pineapple Burger
Burger with grilled pineapple from Spoonsparrow: Homemade Sweet-Chili Sauce gives the final touch!
Ingredients
- 4 red chili peppers
- 1 coarse salt
- 100 ml apple cider vinegar
- 100 g sugar
- 4 Garlic cloves
- 6 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 2 Spring Onions
- 600 g mixed ground meat
- Salt
- ground pepper (from grinder)
- 4 slices fresh pineapple
- 1 tsp orange zest (unprocessed)
- 4 sesame seed burger buns

Wash, trim and roughly chop the chilies. Put them with salt in a mortar and crush finely. In a small pot combine vinegar, sugar and 100 ml water; simmer over moderate heat until thickened. Peel and finely mince garlic. Sauté in 1 tbsp oil until translucent. Add the chili-salt mixture to the sauce, stir well. Strain into a fresh container and let cool.

Wash and dry the lettuce. Trim spring onions and slice into thin rings. Mix with ground meat, season with salt, pepper and orange zest. Form four patties and grill on a hot grill for 5–10 minutes per side.

Meanwhile cut pineapple into slices and grill each side for 1–2 minutes on the hot grill.

Slice buns in half, layer lettuce, patty and grilled pineapple. Drizzle some sweet-chili sauce and serve immediately.
