Ingredients

  • 4 pita breads (pre-made)
  • 1 bundle of green asparagus
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 small green bell pepper
  • 0.5 orange bell pepper
  • 0.5 red bell pepper
  • 4 slices young Gouda cheese
  • 80 g grated cheese (e.g., Gouda)
  • Salt
  • black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1.

Clean the asparagus and cut the stalks in half. Wash, trim, and slice the peppers into thin strips. Sauté the asparagus in butter for about 3 minutes, turning frequently. Add the pepper strips and cook for another 2 minutes, season with salt and pepper, and drizzle with lemon juice. Cut the pita breads in half lengthwise, then cut each piece again to create smaller sections and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  2. 2.

Top the lower halves of the pita with asparagus, peppers, and Gouda slices. Sprinkle the upper halves with grated cheese. Bake everything in a preheated oven at 225 °C (convection) for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Place the upper halves onto the filled lower halves and stack two pieces together. Secure with wooden skewers. Serve with French fries.
