Gratinated Cabbage
Gratinated cabbage from Spoonsparrow is a great healthy dinner option in winter.
Ingredients
- 1 kg white cabbage (1 small head)
- 1 large onion
- 2 Garlic cloves
- Salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- 50 g cooked ham
- 1 tsp Olive oil
- 2 boiled potatoes
- 2 tbsp grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 Eggs
- 130 ml milk (1.5% fat)
- 1 tsp butter
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
Instructions

Clean the cabbage, quarter it, wash, remove the core and cut into eighths. Boil the eighths in lightly boiling water for 10 minutes. Remove and drain.

Peel the onions and dice finely. Peel the garlic and crush with a little salt. Dice the ham finely.

Sauté the onions in olive oil until translucent, add the ham and garlic, and sauté briefly. Mash the potatoes and mix with the cheese.

Whisk the eggs and milk together and season with salt and pepper.

Grease an oven dish with butter. Place the cabbage inside, pour over the egg-milk mixture, add the onion mixture and potato-cheese mixture, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and sunflower seeds, then bake in a preheated oven at 160°C for about 1 hour.

Serve hot, sprinkled with parsley.
