Ingredients

  • 600 g tofu (natural)
  • 1.5 cm fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 1 stalk lemongrass
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 3 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 225 g tempura flour
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 200 g daikon radish
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 unpeeled lime (sliced)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Cut the tofu into bite‑size cubes. Peel and roughly chop the ginger and garlic. Wash the chili and slice into rings. Rinse the lemongrass, remove outer leaves, and cut into thin slices. Mix ginger, garlic, chili, lime juice, oil, and soy sauce; marinate tofu for about 2 hours.

  2. 2.

Whisk tempura flour with ~50 ml water until smooth and let it rest.

  3. 3.

Heat plenty of oil in a pot. Remove tofu from the marinade, drain, coat in batter, shake off excess, and deep‑fry until golden brown all around. Drain on paper towels.
