Donuts from Spoonsparrow ♥ The American doughnuts are very easy to make at home!
Ingredients
- 450 g spelt flour type 1050 (+1 tbsp for working)
- 80 g raw cane sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 0.5 tsp vanilla powder
- 2 Eggs
- 200 ml lukewarm milk (3.5% fat)
- 0.5 cube fresh yeast (21 g)
- 80 g softened butter
- 1.5 l vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
-
1.
Sift flour into a bowl and mix with 60 g sugar, salt, and vanilla. Create a well in the center and add eggs, milk, and crumble in the yeast.
-
2.
Knead all ingredients thoroughly. Add butter pieces and knead until the dough is soft and smooth, easily lifting from the bowl. Cover the yeast dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
-
3.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1.5 cm thickness. Cut roughly 12 circles (≈8 cm diameter) and punch a small hole (≈2 cm diameter) in each center. Cover with a kitchen towel and rest for another 30 minutes.
-
4.
Heat oil in a pot or fryer to about 170°C and fry the donuts in batches, cooking each side for about 2 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on a rack. While still warm, sprinkle the donuts with remaining sugar.
