Coffee Granita

Coffee granita is a dessert recipe with fresh ingredients from the Spoonsparrow collection!

Ingredients

  • 250 ml hot espresso (or coffee)
  • 125 ml orange juice
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 Vanilla bean
  • 100 g whipping cream
  • 10 ml orange liqueur
  • waffle rolls

Instructions

    Whisk 70 g sugar with orange juice and 125 ml water in a pot, bring to a boil and simmer for 1 minute. Add the espresso (coffee). Split the vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape out the seeds and add both the seeds and split bean to the coffee syrup; let cool.

    Pour the mixture through a sieve into a shallow metal bowl and place it in the freezer for 2 hours. Every 30 minutes, stir vigorously with a fork to prevent large ice crystals from forming. Stir again just before serving.

    Whip the cream with the remaining sugar and orange liqueur until half‑set.

    Serve the granita in glasses, top with a dollop of whipped cream, and insert a waffle roll if desired.
