Classic Table Cake

With the classic table cake from Spoonsparrow you’re always on the right track!

Ingredients

  • 250 g soft butter
  • 180 g whole cane sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 70 g apple sauce
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 250 g spelt whole‑grain flour
  • 250 g spelt flour Type 1050
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 160 ml milk

Instructions

    Beat the butter with the whole cane sugar, salt and vanilla powder until creamy. Gradually fold in the eggs, then stir in the apple sauce. Add both types of flour and the baking powder, then mix everything into the batter with the milk. The dough should be smooth but not too liquid; add a little more or less milk if needed.

    Fill the batter into a greased pan if necessary, smooth the top, and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (convection: 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for about 60 minutes. Cover the cake with parchment paper in time, remove it, let it cool slightly, then turn it out of the pan and allow it to cool completely on a wire rack. Serve with whipped cream over tea if desired.
