Cinnamon Stars with Cherry Brandy

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground almonds
  • 5 egg whites
  • 450 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 20 ml cherry brandy
  • sugar for dusting

Instructions

    Beat egg whites until stiff, fold in powdered sugar.

    Set aside 1 cup of meringue for the glaze.

  3. 3.

    Add almonds, cinnamon and cherry brandy to the remaining meringue, quickly knead, cover dough and refrigerate about 1 hour.

    Dust a work surface with sugar, roll dough to 4 mm thickness, cut stars of various sizes, coat evenly with glaze, place on parchment-lined tray and let dry at room temperature overnight.

    Bake cinnamon stars in preheated oven at 160°C for about 8 minutes; they should remain soft inside while the surface stays white.
