Christmas Cookie Stars
The Christmas cookie stars from Spoonsparrow look not only great but also taste really delicious.
Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 120 g sugar
- 1 vanilla sugar
- 0.5 tsp grated lemon zest
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 egg
- 250 g cold butter
- flour (for working)
- 3 tbsp Lemon juice
- 200 g powdered sugar
- yellow food coloring
- small sugar stars (for decorating)
Instructions

Mix the flour and baking powder and sift onto a work surface. Press a well in the center. Add the sugar, vanilla sugar, lemon zest, salt, and egg into the well. Place the cut butter pieces on the edge of the flour. Quickly combine everything into a homogeneous shortcrust dough, wrap in cling film, and chill for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F) with top and bottom heat.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 3–4 mm and cut out Christmas star shapes.

Line three baking trays with parchment paper, place the dough pieces onto them, and bake the cookies in about 8 minutes until golden yellow. Remove and cool on a wire rack.

For the glaze mix lemon juice with powdered sugar and color it with yellow food coloring. Brush the stars with the glaze and decorate with small sugar stars. Let dry well.
