Ingredients

  • 150 g soft butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 250 g sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g dark chocolate (shaved)
  • 150 g ground hazelnuts
  • 300 g flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 200 g dark chocolate couverture
  • 30 g Butter
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • food coloring (optional)
  • 2 chocolate cookies
  • 6 jam cookies
  • 4 gummy bears
  • 8 waffle rolls
  • 1 handful chewing gum balls

Instructions

  1. 1.

Preheat the oven to 170°C (fan). Grease a large rectangular cake tin and dust with flour or line with parchment strips.

  2. 2.

Beat the butter with salt, sugar, vanilla sugar and cinnamon until fluffy. Gradually fold in the eggs. Mix the shaved chocolate with nuts, flour and baking powder and stir into the batter. Pour the dough into the tin and bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown. Let the cake cool slightly in the tin, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.

  3. 3.

Cut the cake about one third of its length, slice almost halfway through and cut off the "loading area" to shape the truck.

  4. 4.

Melt the chocolate couverture with butter over a water bath and glaze the entire truck surface.

  5. 5.

Place the waffle rolls around the loading area on the wet glaze and top them with more glaze. Then press chocolate cookies as front headlights, gummy bears as tail lights and jam cookies as wheels into the glaze. Let the truck dry.

  6. 6.

Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice to make a piping glaze, divide and color as desired. Using a piping tip (e.g., a freezer bag cut at one corner) pipe the "contours" of the truck and decorate. Allow the cake to dry completely at room temperature.

  7. 7.

Before serving spread chewing gum balls on the loading area.

  8. 8.

Optionally cut the remaining cake into cubes, glaze, decorate and use as "cargo."
