Celery Walnut Cream on Bread

Ingredients

  • 200 g starchy potatoes
  • 300 g knollensellerie
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp quark
  • 80 ml whipping cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • nutmeg (freshly grated)','bread slice','chopped walnuts (for serving)

Instructions

    Peel and dice the potatoes and celery. Simmer together in salted water for about 15 minutes until tender.

    Peel and finely dice the onion. In hot butter, gently sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Remove from heat and let cool.

    Drain the vegetables and allow them to steam dry. Set aside a few cubes, then mash the rest with quark and cream into a smooth spread. Fold in the reserved vegetable cubes and onion, seasoning with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

    Let it sit at lukewarm or fully cooled, then spread on bread and sprinkle with walnuts before serving.
